
Robbie graduated from The Guitar Institute Of Technology (G.I.T.) In Hollywood, California in 1990 and returned back to his native London, England and began working as a session guitarist. Robbie played on several BBC Television themes, incidentals and album tracks for producer Dave Cooke.
Robbie took 2nd place in 1994, and 3rd place in 1995, for Guitarist magazineʼs ʻGuitarist Of The Yearʼ Finals at Wembley, London. Consequently, Robbie was asked to contribute guitar techniques articles for Guitarist magazine and started working as a guitar instructor at The Musicians Institute, London.
In 1997 Robbie won the Instrumental category of the Unisong International Song Competition with his original piece ʻDark Horsesʼ.
After visiting Nashville, TN for songwriting trips in 1996 and 1997, Robbie relocated to Music City in 1998 to pursue a songwriting career where he co-owned and managed a small music publishing company on Music Row for two years. Robbie sang and played acoustic guitar at the writers rounds by night and recorded acoustic and electric guitar for demo sessions during the day.
Robbie also worked as a trade show clinician and seminar host on Guitar Techniques in Europe and the U.S.A.
In the USA, Robbie has recorded master sessions for countless PBS television themes, incidentals and commercials. He is also known for his work as an on camera guitar instructor for Truefire. Robbieʼs Truefire DVDʼs (ʻSweet Notesʼ and ʻSoloCraftʼ) have been receiving applause for his unique approach and illuminating ideas on the art of guitar improvisation.
